A popular Bollywood actor, Salman Khan has been sentenced to five years in prison for killing a homeless man.
According to BBC, Salman had killed this man in his 2002 hit-and-run driving incident in Mumbai. This man was among the five persons that were killed in the accident. Salman had lied that it was his driver who was driving but the judge had told him point blank that he was the one driving the car and was under the influence of alcohol at the time.
The judge has sentenced him to five years instead of the expected 10 years in jail. Salman’s lawyers are going to appeal and they had applied for bail. Salman has appeared in over 80 Hindi-language films including Dabangg, Ready, Bodyguard, Ek Tha Tiger, Maine Pyar Kiya and Hum Aap Ke Hain Kaun, have been huge commercial hits.
