President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday played host to Rev.
Father Ejike Mbaka of the Adoration Ministries, Enugu with the controversial
priest saying Nigeria will definitely succeed..
Mbaka told State House correspondents after the meeting that
Nigeria was on the way to overcoming the various challenges facing it.
“We have come to commit the nation into the hands of God and
pray for peace and God should establish His blessings in our country,” he said
of his visit to the seat of power.
“We wish to pray for the revamping of the economy.. We are
committing Aso Rock into the hands of God. We are also here to commit Nigeria
to Jesus, that this 2015 Christmas, Nigerians will say God is great.
“Pray for blessing for our people. I want to assure
Nigerians that in the midst of what is happening, we shall succeed. The time of
promotion is coming.”
On the agitation for Biafra, he said that he did not discuss
it with the President, saying: “I am silent on everything about Biafra.”
On the claim that he is controversial, he said: “People can
say what they want. I am a happy man.”
He wished the President a happy 73rd birthday.
Buhari, at the meeting with the priest who predicted his
rise to power in the last election, said that one of the best exhortations to
the nation he ever heard from the pulpit was the one made early this year by
Rev.Father Mbaka.
“Thank you very much for what you have done and said. It
brought you out to the whole country as a man of courage. It was honest and
well delivered,” he said.
“It has gone into the records as one of the best concerns
expressed from the pulpit, not because it favoured me and my party, the All
Progressives Congress, but because it was good for the country.”
He reaffirmed his conviction that change would come to the
country “with a lot of hard work, despite the security and economic problems.”
The President appealed for the continued understanding and
patience of Nigerians.
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who was present at the
President’s audience with Father Mbaka, described the priest as a man “who
stood for truth and propriety, and declared corruption unacceptable.”
He added that the Buhari administration “is committed to
truth and justice, and won’t encourage corruption in any way.”
